A security diagnostic scan that use automated tools to identify security weaknesses based on known vulnerabilities (e.g. CVEs).
This stands in contrast to Penetration Testing which is more in-depth and performed by skilled individuals, that not only use known vulnerabilities, but also test for other potential vulnerabilities.
